Tinctures are made by using 80 proof or higher alcohol (usually vodka) to extract the healing properties from herbs. Tinctures have a long shelf life of 3+ years if stored in a cool, dark place.
Alcohol-based tinctures are highly potent and concentrated, meaning only a very small dose is required to reap the benefits. Alcohol-based tinctures are extremely fast-acting, because alcohol can enter our bloodstream very quickly.
To administer, you can place the recommended drops directly in your mouth or put in your favorite beverage. Tinctures are strong and may not be suitable for children taken directly. Adding some raw, organic honey helps the remedy go down!
Glycerites are made with food grade vegetable glycerin. Glycerin is considered a weaker solvent than alcohol, but they do provide an alcohol-free alternative. Glycerin is sweet tasting and may be more suitable for children, pets or people who can not tolerate alcohol.

Shelf Life: Tinctures 2-5 years. Glycerites 6 months-1 year.
